In Kinshasa, Rawbank and Congo Salubrité join forces for a healthier environment

To mark World Environment Day, Rawbank has joined Congo Salubrité's initiative to bring Kinshasa's damaged ecosystems back to life and promote environmental sustainability.

On June 5, in collaboration with agents from the Congo Salubrité network in the cities of Kinshasa, Bukavu, Kolwezi, Boma and Bumba, Rawbank teams mobilized to clean up and collect plastic waste along the capital's main thoroughfares.

This action took place in line with the central theme of World Environment Day 2023: “Combat Plastic Pollution”. Rawbank teams and Congo Salubrité agents took action by actively cleaning up several urban areas affected by the presence of plastic waste. The event also saw the launch of an initiative to revitalize the Gombe river.

Since joining the United Nations Global Compact in 2017, Rawbank has been striving to make firm commitments to sustainable development. In particular, the bank places environmental remediation at the heart of its actions to combat climate change. Mamie LUKUSA, Rawbank?s CSR Manager, underlines Rawbank?s commitment to environmental issues. This approach is totally in line with the bank's ambitions, and this collaboration makes all the more sense as in the field of urban sanitation, Congo Salubrité, which is committed to offering sustainable benefits to local populations, is a long-standing partner of Kinshasa.
