Rawbank, the leading bank in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. This celebration marks two decades of development that have enabled the bank to become a key player in the national economy.
Twenty years have passed since the first branch was opened on 2 May 2002, and the bank is now established throughout the country and supports more than 500,000 clients. These twenty years have seen Rawbank develop tailor-made solutions to support all its customers.
Rawbank’s sustained and controlled growth has been driven by innovations acclaimed by its individual, corporate and institutional clients. The bank has regularly set itself apart by introducing products and services to the Congolese market that were previously unavailable. Whether it is the SWIFT services Facturis for Small and Medium Enterprises in 2011, or illicocash, which is constantly being improved to integrate new functionalities, these solutions have facilitated the daily life of millions of Congolese since Rawbank’s opening in 2002.
The bank’s actions have enabled it to obtain high-level distinctions as well, such as those from Global Finance magazine or The Banker (The Financial Times). This recognition is a real driving force for Rawbank, which has redoubled its efforts to contribute to the structuring of the Congolese financial market. While expanding its territorial coverage domestically, Rawbank has also surrounded itself with high-level international partners, such as the Trade and Development Bank, Proparco and the World Bank. Faced with the challenges of banking, this strategy has proved to be a winning one.
For Mustafa Rawji, General Manager of Rawbank, has said: “The last few years have been particularly decisive for the structuring of our offering and the expansion of our territorial coverage. We can be satisfied with what we have accomplished: our balance sheet is solid and supported by a healthy financial performance. Today, we are mobilised for the digitalisation of our products and services, which, I am convinced, is our next growth driver. Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to our customers, who have placed their trust in us for 20 years. Thanks to you, every day we are able to achieve a little more of our vision and ambitions for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.” »
Over the past 20 years, the history of the bank and the country have been closely linked. Driven by a common desire to contribute to the country’s economic development, our teams have worked tirelessly to offer the best financial services to the country.
« “I am proud of what Rawbank has become. Over the years, a deep mutual trust has been established between the Congolese people and the bank. We are as committed as we were on day one and will continue to work to ensure that as many people as possible have access to quality financial services,” concludes Mazhar Rawji, Chairman of the Board.
