As part of its ambitious initiative to increase access to drinking water in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rawbank, in partnership with the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO), recently announced the successful inauguration of four new boreholes in central areas of the country. This initiative is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6, which aims to guarantee access to water and sanitation for all by 2030.
The collaboration This partnership between Rawbank, one of the DRC’s leading financial institutions, and CENCO, an influential organization within the Catholic Church, marks a significant step towards addressing the social and environmental challenges facing many Congolese communities. Located in Buta, Bondo, Gemena, and Lukalaba, these new boreholes have been carefully selected to meet the urgent drinking water needs of their respective populations. Through this project, Rawbank demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and the well-being of Congolese communities by fully funding these vital initiatives.
In addition to providing access to safe drinking water, these boreholes will have a significant impact on the daily lives of residents in the affected areas. By reducing the distance traveled to obtain water and improving its quality, these initiatives contribute to better health, education, and economic development.
The inauguration of these new boreholes demonstrates Rawbank’s continued commitment to playing a leading role in the social and economic transformation of the DRC. In partnership with key stakeholders such as CENCO and local entrepreneurs, Rawbank is strengthening its positive impact in the country, demonstrating the power of collaboration to address the most pressing challenges facing the Congolese people.
As Rawbank continues to expand its social footprint across the country, these new drillings mark another step toward achieving its stated goal of drilling 100 wells by 2025, benefiting a quarter of a million Congolese households.
