In Kinshasa, Rawbank and Congo Salubrité join forces for a healthier environment

Journée Environnement

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Rawbank joined the Congo Salubrité initiative to revive Kinshasa’s damaged ecosystems and promote environmental sustainability.

On June 5, in collaboration with agents from the Congo Salubrité network in the cities of Kinshasa, Bukavu, Kolwezi, Boma, and Bumba, Rawbank teams mobilized to clean up and collect plastic waste along the capital’s main arteries.

This action was carried out in line with the central theme of World Environment Day 2023: “Fight Plastic Pollution.” Rawbank teams and Congo Salubrité agents actively cleaned up several urban areas affected by the presence of plastic waste. Similarly, on this occasion, an initiative to revitalize the Gombe River was initiated.

Since joining the United Nations Global Compact in 2017, Rawbank has strived to make firm commitments to sustainable development. The bank places environmental sanitation at the heart of its actions to combat climate change. Ms. Mamie Lukusa, Rawbank’s CSR Manager, emphasizes Rawbank’s commitment to addressing environmental issues. This approach is fully aligned with the bank’s ambitions, and this collaboration is all the more meaningful given that Congo Salubrité, which is committed to providing sustainable benefits to local populations, is a long-standing partner of Kinshasa in the field of urban sanitation.
