Rawbank provides residents of Camp Luka in Kinshasa with a modern drinking water borehole

Don de Rawbank

On Saturday, January 22, 2022, RAWBANK delivered a modern drinking water borehole to the residents of the Camp Luka neighborhood in the commune of Ngaliema, Kinshasa. This modern structure is located within the Father Giovanni Santolini School Complex. The inaugural ceremony took place at the school’s headquarters.

The Bank is pleased to have provided a small but initial solution to the thorny problem of drinking water shortages facing certain areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“The action we are taking today is in line with RAWBANK’s commitment, through its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program, to be involved in the social life of the Congolese people. I am convinced that this project will benefit not only the staff and students attending this establishment, but also the residents of the Camp LUKA neighborhood. This gesture is in addition to other assistance initiatives already carried out by Rawbank to fulfill its commitment to contributing to and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely: Good Health, Well-being, Clean Water, and Sanitation. It therefore demonstrates our solidarity with the entire population of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and particularly those of Kinshasa,” said Christian Kamanzi, Deputy Managing Director of Rawbank, in his opening remarks.

He reaffirmed his institution’s determination to contribute to the well-being of those in need. He thanked all those who contributed to the realization of this project.

“Let me conclude by assuring you of RAWBANK’s commitment, through its social actions, to contributing to the happiness of those in need. My sincere hope is that the beneficiaries of this donation may maintain hope for the sustainable development of this country. I would also like to salute and congratulate all those involved in this achievement,” he added.

This gesture by Rawbank did not leave the beneficiaries indifferent. Among them, the leaders of the Father Giovanni Santolini School Complex, who believe it is a memorable act of solidarity and love. This book will help the people of Camp Luka and the students of this school.

“We express our gratitude to Rawbank. We are facing a water problem and have been reaching out to everyone, and Rawbank has opened its doors to welcome us. Today, it has just expressed its solidarity with us, and we are grateful. Since the entire neighborhood is facing this water shortage, we will not close the door to those in need. Just as we donate this water to the school population, we will also express our solidarity with the surrounding population to help them obtain this scarce commodity. Before Rawbank helped us, we collected rainwater using cisterns that the children used to clean themselves, use the toilets, and sometimes drink,” explains Father Frédéric Ingele, Rector of this school.

He is pleading with the bank to expand such initiatives once again to other parts of the Camp Luka neighborhood.

“We thank Rawbank for its attention to our needs, to our poverty. It doesn’t just stop at the school complex and the surrounding population; Camp Luka is an entire neighborhood that is practically abandoned and neglected. If Rawbank can continue its momentum of development for the socialization of the population of this area, it will be a way to lift it out of poverty,” he pleads.
