RAWBANK, a banking institution in the DRC, committed to achieving the country’s sustainable development goals, demonstrated its commitment to the management of the Virunga volcanoes and, to this end, signed a memorandum of understanding with the OVG on Sunday, March 20, 2022. This memorandum of understanding signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the conference opening, in the presence of Minister of Scientific Research José Mpanda. This memorandum consists primarily of equipment support and training for this organization’s staff to monitor the volcano.
Reacting to this commendable gesture from Rawbank, the Central Executive Office thanked the bank for its support to the OVG, which is facing several challenges. “I thank all the partners who continue to support the OVG, such as MONUSCO, which regularly contributes to volcano monitoring. “To all our technical and financial partners, particularly Rawbank, which has agreed to support us in providing ongoing assistance to the OVG,” stated the head of scientific research in the DRC.
For the bank’s Deputy CEO: “RAWBANK is committed to the sustainable development of the DRC; it is within this framework that the bank has decided to support the OVG with assistance that will cover several IT equipment projects that will enable the Volcanic Observatory to successfully and confidently carry out its assigned mission.”
It should be noted that Rawbank is committed to the population in several sectors and is involved in the social life of the DRC at various levels, particularly in the promotion of cultural and artistic activities and also in supporting social and environmental associations.
