Kinshasa, December 3, 2021 – On December 2, 2021, Rawbank received approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Control Authority (ARCA) to distribute life and non-life insurance products.
Committed to promoting financial inclusion and access to financial products for as many people as possible, Rawbank is the first bank in the Democratic Republic of Congo to offer its customers life and non-life insurance options. A pioneer, the Bank has been offering life insurance products to its clients since October 2021 through its Privilege Banking “packages” (a series of customized bundled offers developed by the Bank over the course of the year, providing access to various banking products in a single subscription). From now on, the Bank’s Travel, Auto, Home, and Education Annuity insurance offerings will be available individually to all of its clients at all Rawbank branches in Kinshasa. It should be noted that clients will also be able to subscribe to other life insurance policies beyond those offered through the packages.
While the insurance sector is booming in the DRC, Rawbank is continuing to diversify its activities and expand its offering by becoming an intermediary in the distribution of insurance products.
Convinced of the DRC’s economic growth potential, Rawsur is the first insurance company to obtain ARCA approval in 2019. “We have always been convinced that insurance is a growth accelerator. This is why we participated in the creation of Rawsur. Insurance is an essential link in economic value chains. It is insurance that provides security for entrepreneurs and professionals, allowing them to deploy their energy and creativity to create wealth and employment. These beliefs are fully reflected in this partnership with Rawsur,” said Mustafa Rawji, Managing Director of Rawbank.
Together, the three partners (Rawsur SA, Rawsur Life SA, and Rawbank) are determined to actively contribute to the country’s economic and social development, as well as to financial inclusion. “Access to insurance for as many people as possible will help secure and sustain the personal and professional projects of the population. Rawbank has one of the most developed branch networks in the country. All Congolese, as well as all people who have chosen the DR Congo as their home, will now have access to insurance protection. This partnership has always been a natural fit, and it comes at the right time,” concluded Tarik Lefriyekh, Managing Director of Rawsur SA.
