DRC-USA exchange, what are the implications?

On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, a meeting was held on the theme: “DRC-USA Exchange, what are the implications?” organized by Breakfast Connexion, at the Memling Hotel in Kinshasa. This evening, sponsored by RAWBANK, featured special guests such as the U.S. Ambassador to the DRC, Mr. Mike Hammer, and the Deputy CEO of RAWBANK, Mr. Mustafa Rawji.

Considered a strong signal, the event, which brought together more than 30 participants, including economic stakeholders, had at its heart discussions on trade issues and business opportunities between the DRC and the United States.

A shared vision of engagement: increasing the volume of trade, previously estimated at nearly US$100 million.

RAWBANK, represented by its Deputy Director General Mustafa Rawji briefly shared his experience as a leader in the Congolese banking sector and his contribution to improving the business and investment climate in the DRC.

Indeed, among the challenges that stand in the way of these two states are corruption, insecurity, and low rates of banking and access to new technologies. Nevertheless, efforts and a concrete commitment are being made within both the private and public sectors to boost the Congolese economy, diversify it, and attract the American business community to various key sectors in the DRC.

Mr. Mike Hammer, U.S. Ambassador to the DRC, took this opportunity to reiterate the Trump Administration’s commitment to supporting its Congolese partner in reviving bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries. He also encouraged the efforts made by the banking sector through its key players, such as RAWBANK, which contributes to financial inclusion for all.

For RAWBANK, this was yet another opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to the economic development of the DRC. The bank has always positioned itself as one of the financial partners contributing to enhancing the image of the Congolese banking market both nationally and internationally.

What matters most to us is succeeding with you.
