A RAWBANK delegation, led by its Deputy General Manager, Mr Christian Kamanzi, took part in the first international conference on the management of the Virunga volcanoes in Goma, North Kivu, from 19 to 21 March 2022.<\/p>\n
For three days, researchers and national and international experts in volcanology and related disciplines worked together sharing scientific exchanges to come up with appropriate monitoring strategies and methodologies to increase the capacities of the Observatoire volcanologique de Goma (OVG).<\/p>\n

RAWBANK, a banking institution in the DRC involved in the efforts to achieve the country\u2019s sustainable development objectives, has committed to contributing to the management of the Virunga volcanoes and, to this end, signed a memorandum of understanding with the OVG on Sunday 20 March 2022. The signing ceremony took place as a side event at the conference opening in the presence of the Minister of Scientific Research, Jos\u00e9 Mpanda. This MoU consists of support in terms of equipment and training for OVG agents for volcano monitoring.<\/p>\n
Reacting to this commendable gesture, the central executive office thanked Rawbank for its support to the OVG, which is facing several challenges. \u201cI thank all the partners who continue to support the OVG, such as MONUSCO, which regularly contributes to volcano monitoring. And to all technical and financial partners, in particular Rawbank, which has agreed to support us with permanent assistance for the OVG,\u201d said the DRC Minister of Scientific Research.<\/p>\n
The DGM of the bank added: \u201cRAWBANK is committed to the sustainable development of the DRC, and in this context has decided to support the OVG by providing IT equipment that will allow the Volcanic Observatory to carry out its mission successfully and without worry\u201d.<\/p>\n
