On Saturday 22 January 2022, Rawbank handed over a modern drinking water borehole to the population of the Camp Luka neighbourhood in the commune of Ngaliema, in Kinshasa. This modern structure is located in the Father Giovanni Santolini School Complex. The inaugural ceremony took place at the school\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n
The Bank is pleased to have made a small contribution to solving the thorny problem of lack of drinking water in some parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe act that we are undertaking today is part of Rawbank\u2019s desire, through its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, to get involved in the social lives of the Congolese people. I am convinced that this work will benefit not only the staff and pupils attending this establishment, but also the inhabitants of the Camp Luka neighbourhood. This gesture is in addition to other assistance actions already carried out by Rawbank to concretise its commitment to the contribution and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular: SDG 3 good health and well-being and SDG 6 clean water and sanitation. It is therefore a testimony of our solidarity with the entire population of the DRC and particularly Kinshasa,\u201d said Christian Kamanzi, Deputy Managing Director of Rawbank, in his remarks.<\/p>\n
Kamanzi reaffirmed his institution\u2019s determination to contribute to the well-being of those in need. He thanked all those who had contributed to the materialisation of this project.<\/p>\n
\u201cAllow me to conclude by assuring you of Rawbank\u2019s determination, through its social actions, to contribute to the happiness of the needy. My greatest wish is that the beneficiaries of this donation may maintain their hope for the sustainable development of this country. I would also like to salute and congratulate all the actors of this achievement\u201d, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n This gesture by Rawbank did not leave the beneficiaries indifferent. Those in charge of the Father Giovanni Santolini School Complex consider it a memorable act of solidarity and love. This work will help the population of Camp Luka and the pupils of this school.<\/p>\n \u201cWe express our gratitude to Rawbank. We are facing water problems and have been knocking on many doors. Rawbank opened its doors to welcome us. Today they have expressed their solidarity with us, and we are grateful. Since the whole neighbourhood is experiencing this water shortage, we are not going to close the door to those in need. In the same way that we give this water to the school population, we will express our solidarity with the surrounding population to help them access this scarce commodity. Before Rawbank helped us, rainwater was collected in cisterns that the children used to clean themselves, for the toilets and sometimes to drink\u201d, explains Father Frederic Ingele, Rector of this school.<\/span><\/p>\n He pleaded with the bank to once again extend such initiatives to other parts of the Camp Luka neighbourhood.<\/p>\n \u201cWe thank Rawbank for its attention to our needs, to our misery. It is not only the school complex and the surrounding population that are affected, Camp Luka is a whole neighbourhood that is practically abandoned.
